Materials & Finishes

We design kitchens that feel calm, solid, and considered in real life. Below is an overview of how our materials work, from cabinet construction and veneers to countertops, allowing you to see everything in person before making a commitment.

Core Board Materials

Our cabinets are built from two main materials: high-density MDF for fronts and high-density European furniture board for boxes. MDF gives a smooth, stable surface for veneer and super-matte coatings and has enough weight to feel solid when you open and close a door.

The box material has a moisture-resistant core and durable laminated surfaces with seamless edging, so edges stay clean and protected even under the sink or next to the dishwasher.

Both materials are engineered to stay flat, hold hardware securely, and keep gaps tight over time, which is why we prefer them over moving, humidity-sensitive solid wood panels.

Real Wood Veneer

For wood designs we use natural wood veneer pressed onto high-density MDF, rather than printed melamine. The veneer is real timber sliced from the log, which means you still see depth, grain and subtle variation, but with far better stability than solid wood fronts.

We can specify rift-cut veneer for a straight, calm grain or more traditional cuts with gentle “U-shaped” patterns, then tune the tone with stains ranging from soft light oak to muted walnut or fully custom colors based on your references.

Multiple protective lacquer layers and matching edge-banding make the veneer suitable for real kitchen conditions—heat, steam, regular cleaning—so it ages more like well-made furniture than the fragile veneered cabinets many people remember from older kitchens.

Super-Matte and Laminated Color Surfaces

Plain-color fronts use boards finished with super-matte, scratch-resistant, anti-fingerprint coatings. These coatings create a soft, velvety surface that looks very calm under both natural and artificial light and doesn’t immediately show every fingerprint or minor touch.

The color layer is protected by clear coats that guard against everyday abrasion and UV exposure, so tones like white, ivory or light gray-beige stay crisp in high-use zones.

For some countertops or special surfaces we also work with materials like FENIX and ARPA laminates: dense, high-pressure surfaces that mimic stone or solid colors while remaining warm to the touch, highly resistant to staining and lighter than full stone slabs.

Glass, Metal and Lighting Elements

In heavier-use cooking areas or when we want a lighter, more transparent feel, we introduce slim metal-framed glass fronts. The frames, usually aluminum or steel, are dimensionally stable and unaffected by heat, while the glass panels—clear, satin or fluted—bring either openness, softness or vertical texture.

Because metal and glass are non-porous, grease and steam stay on the surface and are easy to wipe away, which makes these fronts ideal near ranges and hoods.

Integrated LED lighting uses slim aluminum profiles, diffusers and warm-neutral LEDs designed for furniture, so the light is even, comfortable and brings out the best in wood, stone and color rather than feeling harsh or clinical.

Countertops & Backsplashes

For countertops and backsplashes we primarily work with engineered and ultra-compact stone, plus stainless steel where it makes sense. Dekton is an ultra-compact surface made by sintering minerals at high temperature and pressure, resulting in a very dense, non-porous slab that is highly resistant to heat, scratching and staining and works well in busy kitchens.

Quartz surfaces like Silestone combine natural quartz with resins to create a stable, non-porous material that offers consistent color and veining with excellent stain resistance, ideal if you want the look of stone without the maintenance of many marbles. In more functional or hospitality-inspired areas, stainless-steel tops offer total resistance to water and heat and develop a soft patina of fine scratches over time rather than staining or chipping.

All of these materials are supported by appropriate substrates and detailing so they remain stable, aligned with the cabinetry and comfortable to use every day.
